A representative of CFR will be at the airport to meet you
Flight time Paris - Jeddah or Riyadh 5hours - Jeddah or Riyadh-Abha 1hour
- Return to Paris very early morning 04th November 2007.
1. Transfers : All transfers in Saudi Arabia, to and
from the airport and to and from the hotel to start and finishing points, will
be by bus . They will transport the competitors and their accompanying guests
throughout the event.
2. Accommodation : This will be in a hotel of a very
high standard in Abha, or in traditional tents.
3. Meals : All meals will be taken in the hotel or
at the site of the competition. The times of meals are governed by the times
of the stages. All drinks outside of meals, are charged to competitors and
are not included in the entry price.
4. Administrative Formalities: Each person
must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of
return, ie at least until the 4th may 2007. This passport must not
carry an Isreali visa or stamp.
The price of the visa is 82 euros
5. Health : No vaccinations are required
specifically but seek the advice of your doctor. Take with
you all your normal medications and ensure you have sufficient
for the trip. Also it is advisable to take proprietary medicines
against intestinal problems. There are several pharmacies in
Abha.
In remoter regions never drink tap water, only water from sealed
bottles.
Always use sunscreen and sunglasses.
6. Climate : Generally the climate is very dry with
perhaps the occasional thunderstorm or rain on the high plateaux. The evenings
are cool. The average temperature during the Trophy will be 25°C.
7. Clothing
: For the event, the usual cycle clothing as worn in Europe is
advised. Otherwise during the day light clothing and a hat is recommended.
Bring a jacket or a jumper for the evenings. Women are asked to dress modestly.
8. Money : The local currency
is the Saudi Ryal. (1 ryal =16 p approx). Currency may only be bought locally.
Credit cards are widely accepted in the hotel, shops and towns and also at
the airport.
9. Language : Arabic is the official language but English
is widely spoken.
10. Voltage : 220 volts. Both British and continental
style sockets are to be found.
11. Transport of bikes: The bikes must be covered by
a suitable travel bag or carton for the flights. Particular attention will
be paid to the way the bikes are loaded and unloaded from the aircraft.
Each day, the bikes will be placed carefully in the lorries for transport to
and from the race. Again this loading and unloading will be supervised by CFR.
12. Other activities: Other outdoor activities may
be offered during your stay.
13. Safety : Your safety during your stay is ensured
by the Saudi police. The wearing of gloves and helmets whilst racing is mandatory.
14. Mechanics : We advise you bring enough spare parts to keep your
bike in a good state of repair. Also competitors must provide themselves with
the normal small tools necessary for repairs, especially punctures !
15. Activités diverses : des activités
outdoors (escalade, Via-ferrata) pourront être proposées
pendant le séjour. Les personnes accompagnatrices sont prises
en charge par un ou plusieurs membres de l’organisation. En accord
avec celles-ci, un programme est établi alliant découverte
du pays, activités nature et suivi du raid.
